Smart 1-2-3
Today's Smart 3 class will wrap up what we've learned the past few days. We're about to go to the "students'" classroom to explore the possibilities on the Smart Board. Pictures to come.

Smart Notebook with Scans
Mr. Melgard showed a class of five how to use the scanner with Smart Notebook. Later, we practiced how to use the scanner with Mr. Melgard's computer.
Smart 1-2-3
We're in our second session of Smart 1-2-3 ("Smart 2", if you will). Yesterday, we learned about the lesson activity toolkit created by Smart Tech. Homework last night was to create a lesson to present today. Here are a few pictures of the presentations:
Today we're going to focus on sounds and movies.
Ms. Iannairello presenting her lessons for
second grade with reading the silent E
Mrs. Scher sharing her creative
lessons using pictures and characters
from the movie, Ratatouille.
Scott presenting his lesson on Punnett Squares

Digital Wave... from afar
"Mrs. Bartels, there's a 2% chance I might not be at Digital Wave this year." That was back in March.
As it happened, I attended only Monday of Digital Wave 2008, because it's Tuesday today and I write this sitting in a hotel room in Sunnyvale, California. Little did I know that the 2% chance of my lack-of-presence at Digital Wave would be because I was asked by Google to present my work at 3D Basecamp, Wednesday-Friday of this week.
So as I write this from the Digital Wave Satellite Campus, if we can call it that, I hope all is going and continues to go well back at school (with only a limited number of blackouts.) If you find a free moment, please check out my blog and see how it's going thus far.
My regards to everyone back at RCDS...

Smart Board Sandbox
Smart Board Sandbox was a major success! Three teachers shared their ideas with the class.
Mrs. Clarke taught us how to use TI-84 SmartView with Smart Notebook.
Mr. Cavanaugh shared some of his interactive lessons in Spanish which consisted of dragging vocabulary or literary works into categories.
Mr. Flynn showed how he makes his map lessons more interesting with dragging and labeling parts of maps (hide-and-reveal)
